JMS Custom Designs

The Story

This bespoke media wall was designed to transform a simple living room wall into a striking feature while introducing practical, concealed storage.

Handcrafted in our Ardee workshop, the full-height cabinetry combines clean contemporary lines with rich oak veneer, subtle texture and carefully integrated lighting.

Finished in Colourtrend Wild Nephin, the deep tone creates a dramatic backdrop for the television, while vertical slatted detailing and warm lighting add depth and character. The result is a completely bespoke piece that feels architectural, considered and perfectly at home in the space.

The Brief

The homeowners wanted to create a statement feature in their living room that would house the television while providing useful storage without making the room feel cluttered.

Rather than adding a standalone TV unit, the brief called for a fully bespoke solution designed specifically around the proportions of the wall. The finished piece needed to feel contemporary and dramatic while remaining practical for everyday living.

Design Highlights

Architectural Slatted Detailing

Vertical slatted oak detailing frames the central cabinetry, introducing texture and helping to visually break up the large fitted wall.

Integrated Lighting

Hidden black light tracks from New Style Lights were incorporated between the cabinetry and slatted sections. Warm illumination highlights the texture of the oak and gives the media wall a softer atmosphere in the evening.

Seamless Storage

Low-level fitted cabinetry provides generous concealed storage while maintaining the clean, uninterrupted appearance of the overall design.

A Moody Finish

The oak veneer was spray finished in Colourtrend Wild Nephin, creating the rich, dark appearance that gives this media wall its distinctive character.

Craftsmanship

Every element of this media wall was made to measure and handcrafted in our Ardee, County Louth workshop.

From the proportions of the cabinetry and alignment of the slatted detailing to the integration of storage and lighting, each element was considered as part of the complete room rather than as a standalone piece of furniture.

This made-to-measure approach allows JMS Custom Designs to create fitted furniture that works with the architecture of each individual home.

FAQ

What is a bespoke media wall?
A bespoke media wall is custom-designed fitted furniture built specifically for the dimensions and requirements of a room. It can incorporate a television, concealed storage, shelving, lighting and decorative finishes within one integrated design.

Can a media wall include hidden storage?
Yes. JMS media walls can incorporate drawers, cupboards and other concealed storage so technology and everyday items can be kept out of sight.

Can lighting be integrated into a media wall?
Yes. Integrated LED and architectural lighting can be incorporated during the design and manufacturing process. This Ardee project uses concealed lighting to highlight the vertical detailing and create a floating effect beneath the cabinetry.

Where does JMS Custom Designs make its fitted furniture?
JMS Custom Designs manufactures its bespoke cabinetry and fitted furniture in its workshop in Ardee, Co. Louth, Ireland.

Does JMS Custom Designs make media walls outside Louth?
Yes. JMS undertakes bespoke joinery projects beyond Co. Louth, including projects elsewhere in Ireland.
