Top 3 Classic Design at the Kitchen Trade Guide Awards
There are projects that stand out, and then there are projects that define your work.
This bespoke kitchen, designed, manufactured and installed by JMS Custom Designs in Co. Louth, was placed Top 3 in the Classic Design category at the Kitchen Trade Guide Awards. The category included more than 70 entries from across Ireland, making the recognition even more significant.
As one of the youngest businesses in the room, it was a proud moment to see our work hold its own among some of the most established names in the industry.
A Kitchen Designed Around Real Living
From the beginning, this project was built around a clear brief. The client wanted a timeless kitchen that would feel high end without being overdesigned. It needed to be practical for everyday use, while also working as a space for hosting and entertaining.
Every element was carefully considered to balance design and function. Storage, layout and flow were just as important as the visual finish.
This is the difference with a bespoke kitchen. It is not about choosing from a range. It is about building something specifically for the way you live.
Solid Ash Cabinetry Built to Last
All cabinetry in this kitchen was handcrafted from solid ash in our workshop. This choice of material gives strength, durability and a premium finish that cannot be replicated with standard alternatives.
Each unit was made to measure, allowing us to maximise every part of the space while maintaining clean lines and strong proportions throughout the design.
The entire kitchen was spray finished in house to achieve a consistent, high quality finish across all surfaces.

Classic Design with Strong Feature Elements
While the overall look is timeless, it is the detail that elevates this kitchen.
The Custom Mantle
The mantle acts as a central focal point in the room. It frames the cooking area and adds architectural depth without overpowering the space. Built entirely in house, it reflects the level of craftsmanship involved throughout the project.

The Bespoke Island
The island is the heart of the kitchen. It provides generous storage, a large work surface and seating for everyday use and entertaining.
The proportions of the island were carefully considered to suit the scale of the room. Chunky end panels and detailed framing give it a strong furniture style presence.

Chunky End Panels and Framing
These details are often overlooked in standard kitchens, but they are key to achieving a high end finish. The added depth and weight bring structure to the design and create a more substantial, built in feel.

Two Piece Cornice Build Up
The cornice detail completes the cabinetry and adds to the classic aesthetic. It creates a seamless transition between the units and the ceiling, reinforcing the overall quality of the build.

Internal Features Designed for Everyday Use
A well designed kitchen is not just about what you see.
This project includes a range of internal features designed to improve usability and organisation:
- Custom cutlery drawers with solid timber dividers
- Dedicated spice storage
- Integrated drinks cabinet with display shelving
- Bifold cabinet for hidden appliances
- Carefully planned drawer layouts for easy access
Every internal detail was designed around how the client uses their kitchen on a daily basis.

Colour, Materials and Finishes
The colour palette was kept soft and timeless to ensure longevity.
- Cabinetry colours in Farrow and Ball Slipper Satin and London Stone
- Oak interiors finished in Rubio Monocoat Chocolate
- Worktops in Calacatta Oro by Sullivan and Lambe
- Internal cabinetry in Roble Cooper from Finsa Ireland
These materials work together to create a warm, balanced finish that will not date over time.

Designed, Manufactured and Installed by One Team
This kitchen was completed entirely by the JMS Custom Designs team.
From initial design through to manufacturing, spray finishing and final installation, every stage was managed in house. This ensures consistency, quality control and attention to detail at every step.
There is no handover between suppliers or contractors. The same team that builds the kitchen installs it.

A Project That Reflects What We Do
Placing Top 3 in the Kitchen Trade Guide Awards for this project was a significant milestone for our business. It reflects the level of detail, care and craftsmanship that goes into every kitchen we create.
We are proud to work with clients who trust us with their homes and allow us to bring their ideas to life.
